An epic Himalayan escape through remote villages, ancient culture, and some serious mountain magic.
The Nar Phu Valley Trek takes you deep into one of Nepal’s most untouched and jaw-dropping regions. Tucked between the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges, this trek gives you a rare look at a world that feels frozen in time. Until 2002, the villages of Nar and Phu were completely closed off to outsiders, which means the culture, landscapes, and way of life are still incredibly authentic. It’s wild, remote, and real. Perfect if you're after something way off the beaten path.
Welcome to Nepal! We’ll pick you up from the airport and get you settled. If there’s time, we’ll head to Pashupatinath Temple in the evening, a sacred Hindu site where cremation ceremonies take place by the river. If your flight lands late, we’ll visit tomorrow instead.
We start the day exploring the chaos and colour of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the heart of the old city. Then we’ll visit the massive Bouddhanath Stupa and finish at Swayambhunath (aka the Monkey Temple) with panoramic views and lots of curious monkeys.
We hit the road early for a scenic (and sometimes bumpy) ride to the mountain village of Dharapani. We’ll stop along the way in Besisahar for lunch and then head into off-road territory. Expect waterfalls, local villages, and lots of wild scenery. The drive takes about 9 hours.
Today’s trek from Dharapani to Koto is a gentle warm-up. It's around 4 hours of hiking through peaceful trails and forest paths. Koto is where the real adventure begins, and you’ll have time in the afternoon to explore this lively mountain village.
Let the real trek begin! From Koto, we climb through dense pine forests and eventually cross above the tree line to reach the windswept village of Meta. It’s a tough 8-hour day, but the views are next level. This is where the Himalayas really show off.
We head deeper into the Nar Phu Valley today, with about 8 hours of trekking to the remote village of Phu. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into another world... think ancient stone houses, prayer flags, mountain silence, and Tibetan culture that hasn’t changed for centuries.
We stay in Phu today to acclimatise and soak up the vibe. Wander the tiny alleyways, chat with locals spinning yak wool, and visit the Tashi Lhakhang Monastery perched on a nearby hilltop. It’s a perfect mix of culture and altitude recovery.
Time to descend! We follow part of the route back down to Nar Phedi, where we’ll stay overnight in a monastery. You’ll meet the monks and nuns, share a meal, and learn what life’s like in this peaceful hideaway. Expect around 7 hours of trekking.
It’s a cruisy 4-hour walk uphill to Nar, another traditional Tibetan village. With loads of time to explore, you can join a ceremony, meet the locals, or just chill out and enjoy the sunset over the mountains.
This is the big one! A serious challenge and massive highlight. We start before sunrise and make our way to Kang La Pass at 5320 metres. It’s steep, snowy and absolutely epic. Reaching the top is a moment you’ll never forget. Then we descend to the village of Ngawal (3675m) and celebrate smashing the hardest day of the trek. Expect a solid 12 hours on your feet today.
After the mountains, it’s time to relax! We drive to Pokhara, a chilled lakeside town that’s all about good vibes. Time for a hot shower, a massage, and a delicious meal by the water.
Today’s yours to do whatever you feel like. Go paragliding, rent a boat on the lake, check out a hidden waterfall or just kick back at a café and treat yourself to good coffee and even better views.
We make our way back to the capital for one last night together. In the evening, we’ll have a group farewell dinner and toast to an unforgettable journey.
All good things come to an end. We’ll get you to the airport in time for your flight home. You're guaranteed to have sore legs and memories that will last a lifetime!
