Got a superpower that others could benefit from? Can you work wonders with Excel, come up with a snappy marketing campaign, or hit a ball so hard it ends up straight in the shopping cart at the local supermarket? Or maybe you're the King or Queen of painting, dancing, or accounting (yep, that's cool too!). Either way, your skills are worth their weight in gold for this inspiring volunteer project in Morocco!
In this project, you'll work alongside students to help them dream big and tackle obstacles with ease. You’ll share your own life story, including those moments when you thought, “HELP, this is never going to work!”... and how you made it happen anyway. Let’s be honest, everyone loves a good success story with a healthy dose of reality. The goal? To motivate students to go all out at school and in their communities, so they can grow into change-makers that everyone can be proud of.
Alongside the work, you'll enjoy delicious Moroccan meals with your host family (yes, couscous is always a treat), explore vibrant cities, and get the chance to discover the country’s most beautiful spots. Oh, and a bonus is that you’ll only be working from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, so there's plenty of time for adventure!
In short, pack your bags, put your talents in your backpack, and head to Morocco to inspire others, and yourself. Who knows, you might even pick up a new skill, like rug weaving, becoming a tajine masterchef, or how to feel totally zen while negotiating at a local market. Anything is possible!
This volunteer project in Morocco is all about sharing, learning, and inspiring. Got skills that could benefit others? This is your chance to put those talents to good use! You'll work with students to help build their confidence, skills, and future plans. Whether you're great with numbers, creatively inclined, or can motivate others with your energy, your input will make a world of difference.
What can you do? Pretty much anything you’re good at! Here are some ideas:
Your work will be flexible and tailored to what you can contribute and what the students need. No two days are the same, and you’ll work closely with the enthusiastic staff of the local NGO. Together, you’ll make an impact that reaches beyond the classroom.
With a varied program, engaging conversations, and the chance to make a real impact, this volunteer work in Morocco will be an experience you won’t forget in a hurry.
From 9:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
You’ll be working alongside local project staff and possibly other volunteers.
You don’t need to speak Arabic or French to join. However, we do encourage volunteers to learn as many words in Arabic or French as possible.
When you apply, we’ll always check for public holidays or school breaks. If there are any during your intended stay, we’ll let you know and discuss it with you.
The Morocco program starts every Monday. We ask you to arrive in Rabat the day before your chosen start date. Accommodation is provided from the Sunday night before your start date through to (and including) the Friday night of your end date.
If you arrive or depart a day or two earlier or later, that’s totally fine, but you’ll need to pay $49 AUD per night directly to the local staff. This includes meals.
Please note: Extra nights are subject to availability, so make sure to organise this ahead of time with the local team.
Volunteers are responsible for arranging their return trip to the airport, though the local team will happily help you with this.
Volunteers stay either with a host family or in program-run accommodation, living alongside a local family and other volunteers. These families receive a portion of your program fee to support your food and housing.
Staying with a family is a great way to immerse yourself in Moroccan life. You’ll get to know the local people, eat traditional food, learn the local dialect (Darija- Moroccan Arabic), and take part in daily customs and traditions.
Living conditions are comfortable in both host families and volunteer housing. Volunteers typically share a room with one or two others, although some families can provide private rooms.
Keep in mind that Moroccan homes are often shared spaces where Sdaders (traditional Moroccan couches) are used for both sitting and sleeping.
In many cases, volunteers can walk to the project. If that’s not possible, transport will be arranged for you.
If you’ve got a little spare room in your bag and want to bring something useful for the project, it would be greatly appreciated. Just check in with us beforehand so we can advise on what would be most helpful.
We’ll pick you up from the airport. After your pickup, you’ll be taken to your accommodation in Rabat and given a full rundown of what to expect in the coming days, including meeting other staff, volunteers, and your orientation.
Most of our volunteers fly into Rabat. A local team member will meet you in the arrivals hall with a sign displaying your name.
Note: Once you’ve booked your flights, please share your itinerary with Volunteer Worldwide so we can organise your pickup. Your flight number and airline are especially important in case of delays, so we know when to expect you.
Casablanca Airport is around a one-hour train ride from Rabat. While a pickup from Casablanca Airport is not included in the program fee, many volunteers choose to fly there due to the wider range of (often cheaper) international flights. You’ll then take the train to Rabat, where a local staff member will collect you from the Rabat Ville train station.
The journey takes around one hour and the train fare is about 90 DH (roughly $15 AUD). From Casablanca Airport, catch a train to Ain Sebaa, Casa Port, or Casa Voyageurs station, then transfer to a train to Rabat Ville.
Your orientation will be delivered by our local contact person on the morning of your official start date. It will cover everything you need to know for your time volunteering in Morocco:
Introduction to Morocco and local customs
Rules and expectations
Health and safety
Travel opportunities
Introduction to your project and placement
It’s also a great time to meet other volunteers and swap contact details for weekend trips and social plans.
On long weekends, you’ll have the chance to explore further afield, with popular destinations including:
Marrakech
Merzouga (desert dunes)
Tinghir (Kasbah region)
Fes and Meknes (imperial cities)
Volubilis (Roman ruins)
Tangier
Even Southern Europe, such as Gibraltar, Andalusia, Portugal, or southern Spain.
Mustapha is the local contact person for this project.

So, are you 18 or older, speak English, and feel called to make a difference? Then this Moroccan project might be exactly what you're looking for. Together, we’ll turn it into an experience you’ll always look back on with a smile!
We completely understand that having your child volunteer overseas can feel like a big step. In fact, it’s often just as exciting for parents as it is for the young person themselves, and sometimes even a little more nerve-racking. That’s why we want to reassure you that your child is in good hands.
Since 2004, we’ve been supporting volunteers and have guided many young people through meaningful international experiences.
We take safety seriously. That begins with carefully selecting our partner organisations, volunteer projects, and host families. Every placement is thoroughly checked to make sure it meets our high standards for safety, support, and ethical practices.
Our experienced and caring local contacts are always there to support volunteers throughout their journey. From clear pre-departure preparation to personal assistance during the project, we’re available to help whenever needed.
We believe strongly in open communication. You're always welcome to contact us with any questions or concerns. We’re here not only for the volunteers, but for their families too.
You can feel confident knowing we are fully committed to creating a safe, supportive, and positive experience. Your child’s wellbeing, safety, and overall happiness are our top priorities.
If there's anything you’d like to ask or talk through, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We're here to support you every step of the way.
