It’s finally happening, your bags are packed, and you’re flying into Medan Airport, probably buzzing with excitement. You’ll meet your new travel crew and our awesome local team before heading straight to Bukit Lawang, a hidden gem deep in the jungle. But no rest just yet, we’ll head to a nearby bat cave to kick things off. They may look spooky, but they’re harmless and surprisingly photogenic. We’ll wrap up the day with dinner together and our first night out!
After an early breakfast, we head into the rainforest for a full-day jungle trek. Expect to spot orangutans, monkeys and exotic birds as we make our way through the dense wilderness. It’s a challenging hike, but the views and wildlife make it totally worth it. Tonight, we camp under the stars, surrounded by nature and the sounds of the jungle.
Rise and shine! We start with a morning hike and more wildlife spotting. Then it's time for a thrill... river tubing! Hop on a tube and drift down the jungle river back to the village. In the afternoon, explore the local village or just kick back and relax!
We jump on a short flight to Padang, a chill coastal town with picture perfect beaches and epic sunsets. After the intensity of the jungle, it’s time to unwind and soak up the ocean breeze. Watch the sun go down and recharge. The next chapter of the adventure begins soon.
We head to Siberut Island by boat and trek through the jungle to visit the Mentawai tribe. This is one of the most remote and traditional communities in Indonesia. You’ll stay with the locals, learn about their daily life, take river baths and truly step into another world.
Today, live like a Mentawai local! Learn survival skills like hunting, fishing, and crafting poison arrows (yes, really). We eat together, share stories, and if the timing’s right, take part in a traditional shamanic ceremony. This is a rare and powerful cultural experience you’ll never forget.
We say goodbye to the jungle and make our way south to a charming fishing village on the coast. Here, we swap rainforest for beach huts, ocean views and chill vibes. Unpack, breathe in the sea air, and let the rhythm of the coast set the pace. Welcome to paradise!
Time for a day on the water! We jump on a boat for some island hopping, snorkelling in crystal clear waters and maybe even spotting sea turtles. We end the day with a beach bonfire, tunes, and a sky full of stars.
Today we give a little something back. We can help out at a turtle conservation centre or teach English to local kids. Then it’s time for some fun! Surf lessons, beach volleyball and soaking up every last minute. We’ll celebrate our last night together with cocktails, music and a beach party to remember.
After 10 epic days, it’s time to say goodbye to Sumatra and your new travel fam. But this isn’t goodbye, it’s just see you later. You’re now officially part of the family, and who knows, maybe your next adventure is already calling!
