This adventurous eco-project offers you the chance to be part of an ambitious agro-ecological initiative in northeastern Thailand. Located on the edge of a lush jungle, this project creates a cosy and inspiring atmosphere where you’ll work alongside international volunteers, gaining hands-on experience in permaculture, sustainable food systems, eco-village design, and biodiversity conservation.
As a volunteer, you'll help out daily in the vegetable garden and food forest, gaining practical experience. You'll also have the opportunity to participate in natural building projects and make organic products such as essential oils and soap. The eco-ashram also hosts daily yoga and meditation sessions for those interested. To top it off, there are regular evening activities like dancing, tea roasting by the campfire, and games, a great way to connect and unwind with fellow volunteers.
The number of volunteers varies from three to twenty-five, with working hours from Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 12:00pm and 3:00pm to 5:00pm. You’ll have your afternoons off on Wednesdays and weekends free, giving you the chance to explore local markets, enjoy breathtaking sunsets over rice fields and lakes, go on adventurous hikes, or even plan a weekend trip to the bustling towns of Udon Thani and Nong Khai. The historic Phu Phra Bat, the Sala Keoku sculpture park, and the vibrant Red Lotus Lake are all just an hour’s drive from the farm.
Our eco-project was founded in 2013 in response to the climate crisis and biodiversity decline. We are committed to creating a peaceful, joyful, and meaningful life where we can reach our full potential without sacrificing nature. We believe it’s essential to learn how to preserve ecosystems, which is why we explore and demonstrate supporting practices, innovations, and suitable technologies that help us lead a regenerative lifestyle rather than a destructive one.
Our practices include regenerative farming, agroforestry, replenishing water sources, building with natural and recycled materials, eco-friendly sewage systems, greywater reuse, and wildlife reserve conservation.
In addition to the ecological focus, we also value community life. In our ashram, we form a close-knit community, where we strive daily for balance between intellectual, emotional, and practical activities. A deep connection to nature and ecology is central to our thinking and actions.
Beyond working on the project, we also offer a unique opportunity to teach at the local school. The children of the project’s founders attend this school, which is just a 5-minute bike ride from the project, so you can easily travel back and forth. This gives you the chance to combine your work at the project with contributing to the education of local children.
Every day, we also dedicate time to yoga, meditation, and dance to bring mindfulness into our lives and stay healthy.
We work closely with the local school and community, giving volunteers the chance to connect with locals and make a meaningful contribution to the educational needs of the children.
By participating in our project, you’ll be welcomed as a member of our community. We ask that you begin your journey with us by taking part in our "Ecovillage Lifestyle Experience Week". During this workshop, you’ll get an in-depth introduction to community life and learn about the ecological, social, cultural, and economic aspects of an eco-village. You’ll meet the other volunteers and learn about our ethics, values, the farm, and the various activities you can take part in. You’ll also receive a thorough introduction to permaculture, natural building, and gardening.
After this introductory week, you’ll be fully prepared to begin volunteering on the farm. We’ll take the time to help you find an activity where you feel both happy and useful.
Join us and become part of a family committed to tomorrow’s food sovereignty. By raising awareness about ecology and creating a positive impact, you can help build a more sustainable future.
Volunteers assist daily on the land in the vegetable garden, food forest, with natural building, and maintaining the buildings. You’ll also help create natural products like essential oils. The activities vary depending on the season and current priorities. If you’re interested in helping at the local school, you can also get involved with teaching, sports, and games.
During your first week, you’ll take part in the Ecovillage Lifestyle Experience Week. This week acts as a workshop, giving you a hands-on experience of what it’s like to live in a community and lead an eco-village lifestyle.
The week is a mix of theory, fun practical activities where we learn more about permaculture, and daily yoga & meditation. Occasionally, there are evening activities like dancing, a fire circle, and other fun activities shared by the participants.
If you choose to help at the local school, your tasks will naturally look different. You can also combine both projects, contributing to the farm and the school as part of your volunteering experience.
After the Ecovillage Lifestyle Experience Week, you’ll start as a volunteer. Working hours are from 9:00am to 12:00pm and from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Wednesday afternoons are free. On Saturdays, we usually have a well-being circle and a group meeting to discuss what needs to be done (volunteers are not required to attend the meeting).
The number of volunteers varies from 3 to 15 at a time. Currently, there are 6 people living on the land who you’ll occasionally work with. One of them is employed full-time and helps with a variety of tasks.
Volunteers primarily speak English on the project.
This project is available year-round.
We offer comfortable dorm-style accommodation, and for those who prefer more privacy, we have a few private rooms. For couples, double rooms are available for an extra cost.
During the Ecovillage Lifestyle Experience Week, meals are cooked for participants, who also help out on a rotating basis. After the first week, volunteers prepare their own meals together with guidance from long-term residents.
Volunteers stay on-site, so they can walk to most activities. To get to the school, it’s a 10-minute bike ride along beautiful country roads.
If you’ve got extra space in your bag and would like to bring something for the project, it would be greatly appreciated. Please check with us about what useful and practical items you could bring.
You’ll be picked up from the airport. Our contact person will be waiting with a sign displaying your name and the Volunteer Worldwide logo.

If you have a passion for ecology, sustainability, and education, and are ready to commit to a challenging yet rewarding environment, this project in Thailand is perfect for you. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the local community and the environment.
We completely understand that having your child volunteer overseas can feel like a big step. In fact, it’s often just as exciting for parents as it is for the young person themselves, and sometimes even a little more nerve-racking. That’s why we want to reassure you that your child is in good hands.
Since 2004, we’ve been supporting volunteers and have guided many young people through meaningful international experiences.
We take safety seriously. That begins with carefully selecting our partner organisations, volunteer projects, and host families. Every placement is thoroughly checked to make sure it meets our high standards for safety, support, and ethical practices.
Our experienced and caring local contacts are always there to support volunteers throughout their journey. From clear pre-departure preparation to personal assistance during the project, we’re available to help whenever needed.
We believe strongly in open communication. You're always welcome to contact us with any questions or concerns. We’re here not only for the volunteers, but for their families too.
You can feel confident knowing we are fully committed to creating a safe, supportive, and positive experience. Your child’s wellbeing, safety, and overall happiness are our top priorities.
If there's anything you’d like to ask or talk through, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We're here to support you every step of the way.
