The project began in 2014 with the aim of helping farmers and their families while promoting regional development, with a particular focus on guiding the children of the villages towards a better future. Since then, the project has grown, and with the ongoing expansion of its network, it has evolved into a Campus & Cultural Centre and a platform for various types of projects.
The project aims to give children a broader understanding of the world. With a greater understanding of the world, they will be better equipped to determine their own future.
As a volunteer teacher, you don’t need a teaching background. Perhaps you’re studying education and want to complete an internship abroad, or maybe you’re dreaming of a sabbatical in Southeast Asia. Class sizes vary: some schools have just 6 to 12 students, while others have between 15 and 25, and sometimes up to 30. In primary schools, your creativity is key: use games, music, or small role plays, the little ones will absolutely love it!
By giving children the opportunity to engage in art and craft lessons such as drawing and painting, you’ll help them build a better self-image, as creating something themselves brings a great sense of accomplishment and pride.
Children also develop skills that can be translated into other areas of life, such as writing and dressing, as these activities require bilateral coordination and fine motor skills. Many of the children we care for have had little to no formal education and find reading and writing challenging. Art helps them express their feelings and emotions, which are crucial for their psychological development. Aside from the physical and psychological benefits, it also provides children with the joy of having fun and connecting with each other, fostering a harmonious and happy environment within the community.
The project is well-integrated into the local community and the village council. As a volunteer, you'll work alongside a Thai farming family in their daily routine. This includes tasks like harvesting, planting, fishing, and many other seasonal activities such as construction and crafts. These are physically demanding tasks for the farmers, and their workday is long. The farmers have a deep understanding of the nature around them and the food it provides.
Your help supports the community and their families. In return, you’ll learn the traditional knowledge of Thai farming, including their house and fields, gardens, agricultural land, forests, culture, and family practices that have been passed down for generations. The Thai farmers themselves are your mentors, many of whom are elderly and possess a wealth of knowledge gained over their lifetimes. Although they generally speak little English, which can make communication challenging, you can still learn a lot from them. You can even combine this project with another. With patience, a bit of English, and the use of gestures, you’ll be able to learn plenty from them.
Join us and immerse yourself in authentic Thai culture while making a real impact. It's a unique adventure that will leave you with unforgettable memories and valuable experiences!
Working hours are flexible and depend on what tasks you'll be doing, but generally run from Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 3:00pm.
Naturally, you’ll be working alongside other volunteers on-site. A maximum of 12 volunteers can take part in these projects at any one time. You’ll also work with, for example, the schoolteachers. The local contact person, Raimund, will also support you.
Volunteers will mainly speak English at the project. The contact person speaks good English and German, and also understands the local language.
This project is available all year round. When schools are closed, lessons can still be given in the temples, which attract many children during those times.
On the project grounds, there are several bungalows, a communal kitchen, a lounge, an elevated Natural Life Resort building, a seminar area, and a library. Each bungalow is equipped with two bunk beds.
Volunteers handwash their clothes. There are clotheslines and bamboo poles under the roof, and we also provide hangers. There is no WiFi in the village. To access the internet and make calls, you can bring your own mobile phone. A Thai SIM card is very affordable and great for staying in touch with other volunteers and with home.
Volunteers cook for themselves in the shared outdoor kitchen. Basic groceries are bought twice a week and stored in the fridge. These are included in your fee.
Additional food like fruit, dairy products or soft drinks can be bought at markets and small local shops. Normally, volunteers teaching at schools receive a free lunch and eat together with students and teachers.
Transport from the accommodation to the project is mostly by bicycle. Several free bicycles are available in the village for volunteer use. There's also a tuk tuk available.
If you’ve got some extra space in your bag and would like to bring something for the project, it would be greatly appreciated. Please check with us first to find out what practical and useful items to bring.
You’ll be picked up from the airport. Our contact person will be waiting for you with a sign showing your name and the Vrijwillig Wereldwijd logo.
Take a look at our additional trips to see what you can do in your free time! We have some truly amazing excursions available. And since you’re already in such a beautiful destination, it’s the perfect opportunity to explore more of the country!
Your contact person is Raimund.

Your stay in Thailand offers opportunities for personal and professional growth, discovering new cultures, and gaining unforgettable experiences.
If you have a passion for education and sport and are ready to commit to a challenging but rewarding environment, then this project in Thailand is perfect for you. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the quality of life of these children.
We completely understand that having your child volunteer overseas can feel like a big step. In fact, it’s often just as exciting for parents as it is for the young person themselves, and sometimes even a little more nerve-racking. That’s why we want to reassure you that your child is in good hands.
Since 2004, we’ve been supporting volunteers and have guided many young people through meaningful international experiences.
We take safety seriously. That begins with carefully selecting our partner organisations, volunteer projects, and host families. Every placement is thoroughly checked to make sure it meets our high standards for safety, support, and ethical practices.
Our experienced and caring local contacts are always there to support volunteers throughout their journey. From clear pre-departure preparation to personal assistance during the project, we’re available to help whenever needed.
We believe strongly in open communication. You're always welcome to contact us with any questions or concerns. We’re here not only for the volunteers, but for their families too.
You can feel confident knowing we are fully committed to creating a safe, supportive, and positive experience. Your child’s wellbeing, safety, and overall happiness are our top priorities.
